I am fiscally conservative and against overspending. City spending should be kept to a minimum with long-term implications kept in mind. Just like our residents do, the city should live within its means. I review our yearly budget carefully and through a microscope. I am the only councilmember who voted against raising taxes the past two years while I have been on council.
As a small-business owner myself, I believe we are the cornerstone of our economy. Attracting small to medium businesses willing to invest in the City of Lakeway is imperative. This will generate more sales tax revenue which will maintain or lower our personal property taxes.
Road safety is a top priority. While on council, I spearheaded several major road changes throughout Lakeway including 620, Flint Rock Rd and Serene Hills Dr. My work is not over. There have far been too many accidents on our interior roads especially Flint Rock Rd. I am pushing for added safety measures to our interior roads and will continue advocating on your behalf with TxDOT for our major highways 620 and 71.
Completion of Main Street is imperative, especially with the upcoming 620 expansion. I have been supportive of the buildout of Main Street and Birrell. It is imperative that these two connecter roads are built prior to the 620 Expansion Project. This will give Lakeway residents adequate access to grocery and other stores when 620 will be hard to navigate.
Responsible development while allowing growth is key. I am a firm believer in property rights and the right to develop one's own property, but we need to ensure new development aligns with Lakeway's charm and character. As a member of City of Lakeway's PUD and Development Agreement Committee, I have been tough on developers giving feedback on what residents will accept and what they will fight against. I listen and learn from current residents who are adjacent to proposed developments.
I voted in favor of preserving our green spaces, trail systems and nature. Update and maintain our parks to create more family and community friendly spaces for people of all ages in Lakeway. The green space in Lakeway adds to our quality of life. Let’s keep Lakeway, Lakeway and what drew us to this beautiful city.
Bridge the gap between the changing demographics in the city. No matter your age bracket or if you have been here 1 year or 40, all members of the community should have their voices heard and respected. Encourage more community involvement in council meetings, commissions and committees from people of all ages, backgrounds and neighborhoods that are not often represented.
Proudly voted in favor of Lakeway's wildlife that banned Trapping, Transporting and Processing of our deer population. As an animal lover, I support the humane and ethical treatment of our wildlife.
